If you haven't heard of Metabolic TypingŪ, you may not know that it isn't just another 'diet' program. In fact, you could describe it as just the opposite.
If you think about it, you probably know people who've tried one diet plan or another. If they were successful, they probably let you know about it. You may have even tried the plan, but possibly found that it did nothing for you. It may have even made you feel worse.
There's a reason for this phenomenon, namely that each of us is as unique on the inside as we are on the outside.
Of course we know that everyone looks different on the outside, but many people don't know that our insides also vary widely. People's stomachs are differently shaped and sometimes even in different places inside. The same applies to liver, spleen and other internal organs.
In his landmark 1956 book, "Biochemical Individuality," Dr. Roger Williams first presented the observation that not only are our organs different, but that even our cells differ.
He also observed that the foods we eat can affect how our genetic expression. In other words, what we eat strongly influences how our DNA works. and since our DNA is at the center of our body's ability to heal and function correctly, food is a crucial element in keeping healthy
In one way of thinking about it, food is like a message we send to our body. This sounds funny, but it's no less funny than our body sending us a message about food when we get hungry.
If we learn to send the right message with the right foods, then our body responds by being strong, healthy and resilient.
The problems happen when we continually send the wrong message by eating the wrong foods. After enough time our bodies can no longer adapt and compensate for this and we experience pain and other health problems.
Metabolic TypingŪ is a process that evolved from the work of Dr. Williams and others to help us discover and refine exactly which foods our body needs. It's a way of quickly uncovering the 'food messages' that will move you towards optimal health.
There are numerous levels of learning your unique metabolic food needs. The most basic is to buy and read, "The Metabolic TypingŪ Diet" by William Wolcott and Trish Fahey. It contains a fundamental test to place you in one or another category of optimal foods.
You can also find online sources for testing. These commonly offer you the ability to get additional information and more refined food lists to help you return to healthy balance. They are also usually more expensive than the book version of the test.
If you are truly serious about learning how you can make foods work for you instead of against you, you will want to work with a trained and certified adviser. You may be able to find someone in your immediate area for face-to-face work. You also have the option of working long-distance via phone and email.
All certified Metabolic TypingŪ advisers can provide Advanced testing, and some can even offer you the much more detailed Comprehensive testing. Your current state of health often determines which test is best for you.
To find an adviser near you, go to The Healthexcel Web Site. Once there, use the drop box at the top left of the page to select your country, state, etc. and you'll see a list of every Certified Adviser in your area.
I also offer both Advanced and Comprehensive testing. Either can be done online or in my clinic. You can reach me for more information by using my Contact Page.
